Welcome on the website of the University of The Third Age in Wejherowo, in its first semester. Our University was created when some volunteers and students stopped cooperating with WUTW.We are glad that thanks to some people you can read about in our chronicle and with the help of vice-starost Grzegorz Gaszta and Mrs Hanna Janiak – inspector of the Department of Culture and Social Affairs at the Offices of the District Authorities, it was possibble to establish a new organization free of former ties.It offers educational and relaxing activities for the generation 55+ from Wejherowo and the district of Wejherowo. We are going to work just like the University of the Third Age.
The name “University of The Third Age (UTA) was coined in 1973 in France where at the University of Toulouse an educational institution for the elderly was set up.Soon there were more of them all over Europe. They all use the same name.

The first “University” in Poland was set up in Warsaw in 1975. There are 2 types of them in Poland:

Nowadays there are about 200 UTA.Their main objective is to maintain and increase intelectual, mental and physical ability of people over55 years old (55+). However there are also younger members – those who retired earlier than at 55.

Having noticed social, technical and technological changes in the world we want all those retired people to become active and involved in many areas by taking part in lectures, language classes, groups of interest, sightseeing learn trips, going to the theatre, the cinema and museums. We want them to lern new things, be aware of the changing world, take part in the cultural life of their town, region and have an interesting social life. All these activities within The University of The Third Age in Wejherowo (UTA), will improve the quality of life and health of the generation 55+.

If you want to experience something you have never had time for, meet interesting people who have interesting hobbies and interests, talk to volunteers of all ages – read about our activities, about institutions and people who support us.
